Fifteen years of senior design. Five of them at Dyson.

I spent five years as Dyson’s primary North America digital designer — the person responsible for how a global engineering brand looked and worked online across the continent.

That kind of room teaches you things a template never will. How a homepage earns attention in three seconds. How design systems hold up across a hundred pages and five teams. How the difference between a good site and a forgettable one is a thousand small decisions, made by someone who actually cares about each one.

Before and since, fifteen years of senior digital design for brands that could hire anyone. I left that world to do the same caliber of work for the businesses I actually live next to — the plumber, the dentist, the Village restaurant — at a price that makes sense for Main Street, not Madison Avenue.

02The namePotawatomi for firefly

“Wauwatosa” comes from the Potawatomi word wawatési firefly.

The Potawatomi people named this place for the lights that rise off the Menomonee River valley on summer nights. The Forest County Potawatomi Community is still here in Wisconsin, and we hold the origin of the name with respect — it isn’t ours, it’s theirs, and it’s the reason this town has the most beautiful name in the metro.

We took the firefly as our mark because it’s exactly the job: a small light that makes itself impossible to miss in the dark. That’s what a good website does for a local business. Get found. Get seen. Get booked.
